Rep2excel

Hi.. :)
After a long time............

Because I had 4 days holiday ;-) , I thought to write something on my blog....

These days, we are finding a software or a way to convert oracle reports to excel files. We searched for many.... but still we couldn't find the exact one that we want. So, we are searching and searching and searching for the best suitable one for our requirement.

One of the softwares we found was Rep2excel which has been developed for Oracle reports and can be used to convert Oracle (6i, 9i and 10g) report output (should be in HTML or HTMLCSS format) to an Excel file format. In addition, the output excel file can be accessed via browser and called from Oracle forms.

Keep in mind that, this is a win32 console application. But Rep2excel can be used on Linux environment installing Rep2excel and MS Office on a Windows server.

For more information, visit http://www.lv2000.com/rx/rep2excel.htm

We had only one problem with this, which was, it prints header details. In our original report, header details are displaying on every page, but we do not want it to be printed on excel file.

Although we had this issue, this is a fine and useful software :)......

Indeed, it's very useful.... :)

You can see Live Demo from this site http://www.lv2000.com/demos/rep2excel_demo1.htm

So, now you also can try this out..

Have a nice Day!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lectures Started

I couldn't write anything, cos my final year lectures were started. Have Requirement Engineering and Network Software Design for this semester and I know that I have to work hard for both of these subjects.

Requirement Engineering.....hmmm... a lot of theory but very important subject to be learnt.

Why do most of software products fail????
There are a lot of reasons... one thing is inconsistent and incomplete requirements and customer doesn't know what the customer really wants at the beginning, but when the product is developed, customer realizes what he actually wanted. That's the issue. So, the requirement engineer should have a talent to collect requirements properly.

Network Software Design.... obviously a valuable subject too... But, more difficult...
The more we read and study, the more we learn...

Thanks a lot Recuva

There was a virus in my PC, so that I had to format it. While I was trying to back up my data, some of them were accidentally deleted (shift + delete). :(

I asked my friends about a software to recover deleted data and I found

Recuva

Thanks RECUVA, I successfully recovered most of deleted files.

But, there are some rules to keep in mind when recovering.

You can go through below links where I found this software.

And, I downloaded this from
Download Recuva from FileHippo.com

Oracle Report Builder Order by Issue

When we use Oracle, we can have SQL Navigator for back end packages, Form Builder for creating forms and Report Builder to generate reports. There was an issue in a report that was to order by using name for a sub data model query(not the main data model query) and several times this issue was reported, but when I go through the report, it was already ordered by name.

Assume,
branch and dept are tables in the database.
name and code are some table columns (fields) in these both tables.

Suppose the main data model query was,

SELECT branch.code, branch.name
FROM branch
ORDER BY branch.code;

And, sub data model query was,

SELECT dept.code, dept.name
FROM dept
ORDER BY dept.name;

As we know, according to the second query, department details should be ordered by name. But, in my case, this didn't happen.

The sub data model (not the sub data model query) in the Report Builder appeared as

code
name

So, we changed the positions of those fields (name to be in the first position) in the sub data model (not in the sub data model query).

Thereafter, it displayed like

name
code

Then, we run the report, it ordered properly and the issue was successfully sorted out. :)

But, even we don't change the field which is going to be ordered to the first position in the data model, it works for some cases. So, if anyone knows the exact reason for this, I wish, you will definitely share your ideas with me. :)

Examinations...

We attend
And listen for lessons
But do not go thought..
After classes
Sleep like a log..
When exams come
We do not sleep
But study hard
And make efforts
To pass the exams..
After exams
Again...
We continue our
Normal lives
And after one or two years
We forget everything..
Are these exams practicable?
Can students get
A comprehensive knowledge?
